The Las Vegas shootings on Sunday night that claimed the lives of 59 civilians sent ripples all throughout the world. Countless of athletes gave their condolences on the tragic events that occurred at the Route  91 Harvest Festival at the Las Vegas Village and Festival Grounds.

Tanner Roundy, a member of the University of Jamestown Jimmies, sadly lost one of his closest friends because of the heavy gunfire.

Playing in his first game since the horrific events with an extremely heavy heart, Roundy took the first pitch of the game he saw over the left field wall in what was surely one of the toughest games had to take part in.

Roundy wasn’t the only player effected by the deaths. Roundy’s teammate and starting pitcher for the Jimmies, Jerome Byndloss, lost a few of his friends in the shooting as well, and went on to throw six scoreless innings while striking out seven for the victory.

It’s incredibly difficult to find any good in the wake following this terrible tragedy, but these two examples from the two University of Jamestown players will hopefully make your heart feel a little warmer.
