Thursday Night Football presented a wonderful opportunity for San Francisco 49ers quarterback, Nick Mullens, to showcase himself to the Bay Area and sports fans across North America in primetime television.

Mullins, a 23-year-old who stared at Southern Mississippi, was signed as an undrafted free agent and promoted to the team’s active roster after starting QB Jimmy Garoppolo tore his MCL, sidelining him for the entire season.

With C.J. Beatheard unable to start due to a wrist injury, Mullins shined on TNF by completing 16 of 22 passes for 262 yards and three touchdowns for zero interceptions. While the 34-3 win over the Raiders was nice and all, he was actually verified mid-game by Twitter!

Speaking of Twitter, the San Jose Sharks took notice of Mullens’ strong debut and couldn’t but notice that he looks eerily similar to forward Tomas Hertl.

Can you see it? Some Bay Area sports fans certainly could.

Yup, clearly separated at birth. The similarities definitely noticeable.

Jalen Ramsay just has to give Mullens some skating lessons now. And for the sake of it, let’s hope Hertl can throw a football just like he can shoot a puck.

The 24-year-old Prague native has started off strong this season in San Jose, amassing 13 points (5 goals, 8 assists) in 13 games, just two off for Logan Couture and Brent Burns for the team lead.
