In the days of social media, trades break in all different forms and people will take even the smallest clues very seriously.

While everyone has been waiting for weeks for even a small bit of news on the Erik Karlsson front, it is the Senators provincial rivals that are attracting attention on Tuesday morning (How rare for the Leafs to have the spotlight). A Leafs prospect that is often mentioned in fan trade theories, Andrew Nielsen, has followed the Anaheim Ducks.

Fans are also stating that he took the Leafs out of his bio, but his page doesn’t qualify for most web caches, so that is really doesn’t have much evidence that the Leafs were ever in his bio.

As we said, we can't be sure what his bio said in the past, but there is definitely no mention of the Leafs now.

Even Reddit is getting in on the rumours:

NHL Trade Rumours: Andrew Nielsen has removed the Toronto Maple Leafs from his bio and has now just followed the Anaheim Ducks. Potential Anaheim-Toronto Trade coming? from r/hockey

You never know if this really does mean anything, but it’s definitely not enough evidence to assume that it has any meaning. We’re always happy to see trades in the NHL, but we’ve seen Karlsson follow Stamkos, Stamkos like a TSN tweet and countless other random social media activity that ultimately lead to nothing.
