Considering they played all the way through to the Stanley Cup Final, it’s natural to assume that there were some injuries on the squad.

The one injury that was apparent from a couple of screenshots throughout the playoffs was Nicklas Backstrom’s hand injury. Before he even missed time he was wearing a cast on his hand and after his return, an image of him with a hugely swollen finger was circulated around social media.

Now we know exactly what he was suffering from throughout the playoffs.

Surprisingly it seems like those were the only two injuries to come out of the Capitals year-end interviews. We figured with all the battling they did throughout the playoffs there would be a couple more, but part of having the luck to make it to the end of a Cup run is staying healthy enough to make it happen.

Just about the only person we assumed was healthy was Ovechkin, because you don’t do keg stands on the Stanley Cup if you’re not feeling your best.
