The NHL is set to release their First and Second All-Decade teams on Friday but ahead of the big unveiling, the league is releasing its best moments, events, coaches and team of the 2010s. On Monday, NHL.com named its best event from the past 10 years and a Canadian team managed to crack the list.

That’s right, the 2014 Winter Classic between the Toronto Maple Leafs and Detroit Red Wings has been named the NHL’s game of the decade. Let’s flash back to New Year’s Day, when 105,491 fans(!!!!) packed the Big House in Michigan. Regulation ended with two goals apiece and after a five minute overtime period solved nothing, it all came down to a shootout. With Detroit 1-3 and Toronto 1-2, Tyler Bozak had a chance to win it all on the Maple Leafs’ third shot and DELIVERED.

Bozak snuck the puck blocker side and sparked thunderous roars in the stadium. He had this to say afterward about the goal:

The following is an excerpt from NHL.com:

"It was an exciting moment, obviously a special moment that I still remember," Bozak said. "I just remember coming down ... I'm not much of a deker in the shootout. I always kind of just look for a place to shoot. And got kind of lucky that it went in."

Per NHL.com, the NHL has staged 29 outdoor games and 12 Winter Classics overall. The most recent one took place in Texas, as the Stars out-battled the Predators for a 4-2 win on home ice.
