Viktor Arvidsson has emerged as a star for the Nashville Predators, but he doesn’t seem to be getting that star treatment from referees.

The joke goes around all of sports that stars get away with more in the NHL, but this might be the most painful penalty we’ve ever seen anyone take. Arvidsson somehow got called for embellishment on a play where he was basically lifted off of his feet by a crosscheck to the neck. Fans were pretty confused.

If that’s embellishment, more people should start cross checking in the NHL. We’re pretty sure we’ve never seen anyone react better than that to getting cross-checked in the neck, so you’re pretty much guaranteed at least offsetting minors.

It’s similar to Zdeno Chara’s strategy from Saturday night against the Leafs, where Jake Gardiner said he got a penalty for hitting Chara’s fist with his face.
