When Jaromir Jagr signed with the Calgary Flames, the hockey world was incredibly excited that the 45-year-old would be back in the NHL and playing for a Canadian team for the first time in his career.

BREAKING: Jaromir #Jagr has signed a 1-year, $1 million contract with the Calgary Flames.

Unfortunately for Jagr and hockey fans, this season hasn't turned out how anyone thought it would for the future Hall of Famer.  Jagr has only played in 22 games for the Flames this season and hasn't played since December 31st.

The Flames have found their stride as of late with Jagr out of the lineup and on Sunday, his time in Calgary came to an end as the team placed him on waivers.

There's a little bit of information to digest, so stay with us.  As per TSN's Hockey Insider Bob McKenzie, Calgary placed Jagr on regular waivers, which means every team (aside from theFlames) has the opportunity to claim him.

A team claiming Jagr doesn't seem likely, though, and if he goes unclaimed by Monday at noon, it looks like the legendary player will be headed to Europe.

Jagr was just 38 games away from overtaking Gordie Howe for most games played in NHL history, but unless someone claims him, it doesn't seem like he'll get the chance to break that record.

Even though Jagr hasn't been playing recently, hockey fans are still going to miss him if he heads back to Europe.
