Brady Tkachuk got it over with and dropped the gloves for the first time in his young NHL career, and he made sure to make it a memorable one.

After Mark Stone took a high hit from Red Wings forward Justin Abdelkader, the 19-year-old took exception and instantly came to his buddy’s defence. Tkachuk managed to hold his own and even earned the knockdown, but the part most hockey fans will be remembering is the line he said afterward. Tkachuk lives with Stone so he figured the fight would at least earn him one month’s rent.

Good tenant @bradytkachuk 😂👏👏

Not so sure about that one Brady but it was still a nice gesture!

It was only a matter of time before the fourth overall pick earned his first fighting major. Tkachuk seemed pretty confident in his abilities and even claimed he’d take down his older bro Matthew in a fight. The two will face off against each other for the first time on February 24.

It hasn’t taken long but Brady’s already establishing himself as Ottawa’s new tough guy. Take note everyone!
