On March 31st, Bryan Bickell will be appearing at the Rockford IceHogs’ home game against the San Jose Barracuda as a part of the team’s Hawaiian Night promotion and Jersey Auction Game. Proceeds from the game will go to the Bryan & Amanda Bickell Foundation as well as the Multiple Sclerosis Society’s Greater Illinois Chapter.

For more information, see the IceHogs’ press release, complete with spiffy Hawaiian Night graphic:

Bickell was forced to retire after the 2016-17 season as a result of being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. His foundation raises money to create awareness for “pit bull” type dogs, and the MS Society does the same to develop methods of treatment for the disease.

The game promotion itself seems like a pretty neat one. Tiki Hammy jerseys! Pig roast! We’ve seen game promotions before, but inspired twists like themed jerseys and, um, an actual pig roast is sure to perform well for the fundraiser.

This won’t be Bickell’s first time back on the ice for a team he’s played for, as the Chicago Blackhawks invited the three-time Stanley Cup Champion back to the United Center for one final round of player introductions.
