On Thursday evening,Christian Yelich was named NL MVP, edging the Rockies’ Arenado and the Cubs’ Baez. Yelich earned the honours as a result an explosive end to the season, where he heated up to steal the show and dominate towards the end of August.

The former Miami Marlin celebrated  his title with family and friends following the announcement, and one of his steadiest supporters, Browns’ quarterback Baker Mayfield, was in on the celebrations, as a result of a conveniently timed bye week.

He’s not one to brag, but Mayfield, who has also been known to rock a Yelich jersey ahead of his own games, totally called this one in a Browns’ press conference, where he confidently predicted Yelich’s win at the end of his statement.

Mayfield is not the only high profile personality to congratulate Yelich on his win, and Twitter was filled with an outpouring of support from fellow players, fans, and celebrities alike following the announcement.

With this victory, Yelich becomes the first player since Josh Donaldson in 2015 to earn MVP honours after being traded in the previous offseason, and we can only imagine that Marlins fans are hurting over the loss of this star.
