Imagine what hockey games would be like if goalies actually had to serve their penalties. Well, it actually happened on Saturday night.

In a game between Mercyhurst and Air Force, Mercyhurst goalie Garrett Metcalf received a two-minute penalty for delay of game after he shot the puck into the stands with less than two minutes left to play, and he actually got sent to the penalty box.

You see something new every time you go to a sporting event, but this is something we’ve never seen before in all of our years of watching hockey.

Metcalf received a10-minute misconduct on the play and sat for the remainder of the game inside his team’s penalty box. Since they lost it ended up being their final game of the year, so at least they went out with a bang.
