We’ve all played with that one selfish hockey player that was a puck hog, spent too much time on the ice and refused to change, or flat out just liked to be the star of the show. Heck, some of us probaly played with a player that would make his case to a ref that his stick touched the puck prior to a pass that lead to the goal, begging for a secondary assit.

But every so often, we’re reminded that not all hockey players are selfish.

In fact, most players will pass off to a teammate that’s been slumping or doesn’t have the puck luck on their side if they have an open net to shoot at.

Over in the Czech Extraliga, Michal Vondrka made the most unselfish play ever for Pirati Chomutov.

After a failed drop pass that turned into a neutral zone turnover, Vondrka picked up the puck and skated in on a breakaway. Instead of a showdown with the ‘tendy, Vondrka had a wide open cage, as the opposition had pulled their goaltender for an extra attacker.

Instead of shooting, Vondrka, who’s the team captain, dropped it off for teammate Romanu Chloubovi to bury.

Here’s another look.

Parádní gesto od @michalvondrka pro @chloubic_cv 🎩👌👌. #piratichomutov #telh

Maybe he just wanted an apple?

Next time you’re in the dressing room, look around and count in your head just how many of your teammates would make that pass.

There’s a reason why Vondrka is team captain of Pirati Chomutov, and this exemplifies it.

The Pirates, which is translated from Pirati in Czech, went on to win the game 2-0.
