The Bruins and Leafs have become two of the biggest rivals in the NHL over the past couple of seasons, but that doesn’t mean they can’t respect each other’s abilities.

Toronto and Boston and appear destined to play each other in the playoffs every single year, so it feels like the rivalry will just continue to grow. And while the Bruins have all of the recent bragging rights, one Leafs player seems to have caught the attention of one of the Bruins’ stars.

According to Mike Zeisberger, Pasta picked Auston Matthews to win the NHL’s MVP trophy in 2019-20.

That’s a pretty bold take, but as Pastrnak pointed out, he’ll need to stay healthy before he can hope to take a run at that trophy. Even then though, last season he only finished 21st in the league in points per game, so he would need to take a significant leap in point production as well.

A little extra ice time might help too, but it doesn’t seem like Mike Babcock has any plans to change up his stars’ ice time. Good luck Auston.
