The San Jose Sharks traded for Erik Karlsson and the blockbuster deal with the Ottawa Senators nearly paid off as the Sharks came two wins away from making it to the Stanley Cup Final.

Ultimately, though, the Sharks fell short and Karlsson now heads to unrestricted free agency where he'll make a TON of money.  Sure, this past season wasn't the best of the two-time Norris Trophy winner's career, but he's still one of the premiere offensive defenceman in hockey.  Nobody is sure as to where Karlsson will end up come July 1st, but he may have knocked a team off his list with a tweet on Friday.

It wasn't exactly a "goodbye" tweet, but it had the sentiment of one and fans felt the same way upon reading it.

The popular way to interpret the tweet is Karlsson is leaving, but Evander Kane also sent out a "thank you" tweet Friday and maybe it truly is just a thank you in Karlsson's case.

There are plenty of big names that will be available come July 1st, but Karlsson might be at the top of the list if he truly does intend on leaving San Jose.
