Do you remember that at one point in time NFL running back Frank Gore was considered to be injury prone?

From 2005 until 2010 (yes, he’s been around that long) Gore only made it through a 16 game season on one occurrence. He followed up that stretch with a ridiculous stretch of 10 seasons between 2011 and 2020 in which he only failed to appear in three games total.

An absolute pillar of consistency for such a long time, Gore aptly received the nickname “Frank the Tank.” Nowadays, Gore – who is still not yet officially retired from football despite his son now being a year away from eligibility – appears to be ready to test the limits of his body once again.

This time, he’s looking to slip on the boxing gloves.

In a story posted by NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Gore explains that he’s politely declined opportunities to fill RB holes around the league in an attempt to focus more on boxing.

While it’s not stated which teams have reached out, major holes have opened up around the league with pre-season injuries to J.K. Dobbins, Gus Edwards, Travis Etienne, Cam Akers, and more. The first two weeks of the season have brought even more causalities, with San Francisco’s battered backfield standing out as one particularly injury-plagued room.

As for what style of fighter Gore will be, The Tank wasn’t about to reveal his hand early.

Ever the salesman, we can’t wait to see Gore in action whether it’s on the gridiron or in the ring.
