You can count on seeing Great Britain at the 2020 IIHF World Hockey Championship in Switzerland.

The stakes were clear heading into their Monday matinee against France; winner moves on to next year’s tournament, loser is relegated. Neither team had won a game in the tournament heading into the matchup but that streak came to an end after Great Britain’s Ben Davies pulled a nifty deke in overtime to send them to the 2020 dance. The players cellied HARD and they managed to give hockey fans one of the funnier moments of the tournament in the process. The entire team came together at centre ice and literally yelled “we’re s***, and we know we are.”

You’ve gotta see it to believe it.

Well, you definitely don’t see that very often! At least the goal was pretty sick?

Great Britain trailed 3-0 more than halfway into the third period but was able to spark a comeback thanks to goals from Robert Dowd, Mike Hammond and Robert Farmer. With the momentum on their side, Davies was able to finish things off just over two minutes into OT. Safe to say the guys in white will be enjoying this one all night!

What a win for British hockey.
