An MLB season is 162 games in a year, and given the fact that there’s only one non-American team in the league, the American anthem plays at each and every MLB game.

Despite the playing of Star Spangled Banner being the definition of routine, the anthem randomly brought an entertaining with it during Monday’s Pittsburgh Pirates, Cincinnati Reds game . Reds’ position player Alex Blandino and Pirates relief pitcher Luis Oviedo ended up in a standoff that lasted WAY too long.

The Reds announcers explained that the standoff had been happening for about five minutes before the cameras even began focusing on them. It was another few minutes until home plate umpire Chris Conroy got involved, resulting in Oviedo eventually standing down.

Never know what you’re going to get at the ol’ ball game.
