New year, new record.

It was a historic night at the Air Canada Centre for Raptors guard DeMar DeRozan on the first day of 2018.

DeRozan broke the franchise record of most points scored in a single game by a Raptor with 52, supplanting Vince Carter’s and Terrence Ross’ previously shared record of 51. The Compton native shot 58.6 percent from the field (17-of-29), 55.6 percent from behind the arc (5-of-9) and drained all 13 free throws.

His final free throw of the game brought him to the 52 point mark in the final moments of the overtime.

The all-star guard come through in the clutch when needed most, draining 15 points from the final five minutes of the fourth quarter through the end of the extra frame, as the Raptors went on to win their 12th straight game at the ACC, beating the Bucs 131-127.

Here's some of the best reaction from around the internet.

Up next, the Raps, who sit second in the Eastern Conference trailing only the Boston Celtics by 3.5 despite playing ten less games, will  look to keep the ball rolling when they head to Chitown on Wednesday night.
