As we all know, Joey Gallo is an absolute dime.

He’s the jack of all trades.

Winning the AL Golden Glove in 2020 and absolutely crushing home runs in Spring Training, he’s on top of the ball. Literally.

Oh, and he’s a pretty fun guy.

So of course leave it to Gallo to have a pretty great prom story.

When talking to MLB Network Tuesday, Gallo discussed growing up and being a natural home run hitter, being one of the best defensive outfielders within the league, and reflected on the time he took Mad Dog Greg Maddux’s daughter to prom.

Maddux is a pretty intimidating guy. With four Cy Youngs, 355 career wins and being one of the best pitchers of all time, showing up to take your date to prom and being met with him may just be one of the most nerve-wracking experiences. Even for Gallo!

During his interview, he confirms the nerves definitely took over.

“Yeah, it was pretty intimidating. I'm not going to lie. We actually had a game earlier that day and I pitched and I threw a no-hitter that day. And then I ended up going to prom later that night with Paige Maddux, so it was an interesting day. It was really fun. You know, showing up and having to talk to Greg for 20 minutes and taking his daughter to prom was uh, pretty nerve-wracking for a 17-year-old.”

He then goes on to share how the two actually talked about Gallo’s no-hitter from earlier in the day, but Gallo was more interested in discussing hitting with him.
