Friday marked the start of training camp in Niagara Falls for the Toronto Maple Leafs and as expected, William Nylander wasn't in attendance as he and the Leafs are still working on a contract.

There's no telling when a deal will be signed, so the Leafs need a backup plan in the meantime to take Nylander's spot and Thursday, Mike Babcock revealed who would get the first crack at filling in for Nylander.

Ennis signed a one-year deal with the Leafs in July and based on what the Leafs have seen this summer from him, they feel like he's the guy to replace Nylander on Matthews' line for the time being.
Obviously the Leafs and their fans are expecting Nylander to sign sooner rather than later and return to his normal spot in the lineup, but if things don't work out, Ennis is the backup plan (for now).
