The rumors about a Space Jam sequel featuring LeBron James have persisted for some time, and with another bit of news dropping today about the film, it sure looks like things have moved one (potentially giant) step closer to materializing.

According to film reporter Umberto Gonzalez, Space Jam 2 may have found its director in Terence Nance.

Nance is a young and relatively new face to the movie landscape; his directing credits include the arthouse film An Oversimplification of Her Beauty as well as the HBO’s Random Acts of Flyness late-night show. He’s been described as a rising director in the industry, but basically, we’re willing to guess that you haven’t heard of him.

Still! It looks like thing is really going to happen, with LeBron James looking ever more likely to star. Of course, after Michael Jordan's role in the original Space Jam, we can think of nobody else better suited to follow him.

Anyway, here’s the conspiracy theory: LeBron moved to Los Angeles for the easy access to Hollywood, grandmastered the Lakers’ roster full of real-life Looney Tunes characters such as JaVale McGee and Lance Stephenson, and will lead this team against the Golden State Warriors, who are obviously the Monstars.

Just some food for thought.
