Hockey players (Or athletes in general) can often let their emotions get the best of them, but sometimes someone just crosses a line.

The latest example, comes from Liiga, the top hockey league in Finland. In a game between Karpat and HIFK, Juhani Tyrväinen crosschecked an opposing player in the side of the knee. It was missed by most people, including the referees, but as you can see in the video below, Kristian Vesalainen immediately knew what happened and was not happy about it.

It’s a dangerous play that could have very easily ended a lot worse.

Some Finnish reporters expanded on the context of the play and it doesn’t look any better. Down 4-1, 34 seconds left to play – definitely a dirty shot.

There has been no news of a suspension so far, but we have to imagine the league would take a look at something like this.
