It was pretty unanimous among hockey fans, that Evgeni Malkin may have been the biggest snub from the NHL’s top 100 players ever, which was revealed earlier this year.

Frank Seravalli spoke to Malkin shortly after the snub and despite his first availability coming two weeks after the announcement of the list, he had not forgotten. He low-key predicted another cup win this year, and hoped that after adding to his trophy case he could be on a new list next season: The NHL’s top 101.

“Maybe next year - the 101 NHL year - and they send me a great black jacket and I will be No. 101”.

Well, apparently he still hasn’t forgotten as he picked this fan out of the crowd on Wednesday with a sign that opens up with “#101 in the NHL”.

Best fans ever!!! Thank you!!!

Looking at some of the other names included on the list, it is a little ridiculous that Malkin wasn’t included.

He trails only Sidney Crosby in points per game in the playoffs and regular season, is now a three-time Stanley Cup Champion, a Conn Smythe winner and won a Hart Trophy in 2011-12. Realistically, he is the closest person to matching Crosby’s production since both players entered the league, especially if you start to include playoff performance.

On top of all that, he’s one of the funnier players in the league. For proof of that, just look at the sign that he carried with him at the Stanley Cup parade.
