Only one of the eight first round matchups in the NHL playoffs went the full distance and the final game of that series went down on Wednesday night in Boston.

The Toronto Maple Leafs and the Bruins went back and forth for the first two periods, but in the third period the home team took over and put the game out of reach to end the series. Considering the Leafs managed to come back from two different two-game deficits during the series, the Game 7 loss hurt even more after it all fell apart in the final frame and Leafs Nation expressed their feelings online.

It was one of the biggest nights in Toronto sports history and a second round berth for the first time in 14 years would have had the fans partying in the streets, but instead they have to start looking forward to next season.

It’s never easy to put a positive spin on a loss, especially when it’s a loss that eliminates you from the postseason. However, a lot of Leafs fans are finding plenty of positives in their team right now, especially since they were nowhere near making the playoffs two seasons ago.
