The University of North Dakota and Boston University opened up the first round of the 2017 NCAA Men’s Division I Hockey Tournament on Friday and they got things going with a bang.

North Dakota opened up the scoring in the first period, but Boston University scored three straight goals, including two in the first five minutes of the third period to take a 3-1 lead.

Since it’s a playoff game and a spot in the Frozen Four in on the line, things got more aggressive as the game went on. Midway through the third period, North Dakota’s Mike Gornall clobbered Boston University’s Kieffer Bellows with a glass-shattering hit.

Both Gornall and Bellows were probably equally as shocked that the hit caused the glass to shatter the way it did.

Following this massive hit, Boston University gained some serious momentum and went on to score to straight goals to force the game to overtime.
