It's insane to see old hockey highlights or pictures of hockey players because it's hard to imagine playing in the equipment they wore back in the day in this day and age.
If you can't imagine what it would be like to wear the old school hockey equipment right now, maybe this hilarious video of Oliver Ekman-Larsson testing some old equipment out will help you out.

As you can see, it's not easy (or comfortable looking) wearing and using old equipment.
It's a good thing equipment has evolved the way it has over the years or Ekman-Larsson may not have scored this huge shootout goal for Sweden that helped them win Gold for the second consecutive year at the World Hockey Championship.
