Rocky is perhaps the most transcendent fictional sports legend. He garners respect from all avenues for his work ethic and ability to overcome the odds (in fictional movies), and has become a cult hero because of it.

If there’s one thing cult heroes are good for its themed events. Whether it be a Star Wars, Star Trek, Harry Potter or any other inspirational character, they make for fun nights and even better jerseys. The latest from that line of thinking is the Toledo Walleye’s “Rocky Night” in which they have created a shirtless (tarps off) jersey, for seemingly no reason.

Really the only connection we’re seeing to Rocky is in that they decided it was Rocky Night. There are some American colours and a championship belt, but still, neither of those are exclusive to Rocky.

So, we have decided to make it our full recommendation that that Toledo change this event “Tarps Off Night”. You could even follow in the Leafs path and create a tarps off cam in which you encourage fans to take off their jersey and swing it around (hopefully they’re wearing undershirts to keep it kid-friendly).
