Kawhi needed a smart defensive team that could hit key shots and the Raptors badly needed someone that could close games. At the very least, they got a title out of it.

My biggest gripe with how Kawhi handled the free agency is that he made the Raptors wait until the very end while all other free agents were signing. By that stage everyone else was signed up! If the Raptors had signed another solid player they would’ve got past the Celtics!!
