Few individuals have come as far as Vegas Golden Knights goaltender Robin Lehner. The 30-year-old has overcome a great deal of mental illness to earn his place in the league, and more recently he has felt comfortable discussing his experiences with it online. But unfortunately the goalie who goes by ‘Panda’ had to discuss bring it up on Twitter in a more negative light on Tuesday after he was attacked on Twitter following the Marc-Andre Fleury.

After his partner was traded to Chicago, Lehner revealed that people were actually attacking his mental illness online with a powerful tweet of his own. Here’s a look at the full statement:

Lehner followed up his tweet with a more in depth one about his own battles with mental health. The Swede reminded fans that he is Bipolar 1 and and suffers from post-traumatic stress order. Few players have been as open about discussing their personal experiences and has demonstrated a great deal of courage in doing so.

The hockey community should 100% have Lehner’s back here. Let’s all remember that some things are much bigger than hockey.
