It looks like we now know a litte more about one of the wilder tweets the NHL has seen in the last five years.

Let’s flashback to the bubble. Marc-Andre Fleury is the presumed starter for the Golden Knights UNTIL Robin Lehner enters the picture. Fleury gets benched, Lehner starts, and the former’s agent Allan Walsh shares a tweet of his client getting stabbed in the back with a sword that says ‘Pete DeBoer’ on it. Additionally, Lehner was on the verge of inking a new five-year, $25 million contract. Well over a year later, Lehner ‘set the record straight’ on what happened and it turns out that the tweet had nothing to do with the extension and that he actually has a good relationship with Walsh.

Here’s what happened, as told by Lehner. Start at 86:00:00 of the Cam & Strick Podcast:

As for the photo… in case you forgot!

After capturing his first Vezina award, Fleury was sent packing to the Chicago Blackhawks for a bag of pucks. There’s no more controversy in Vegas’ crease anymore but hey, it’s nice to see Walsh’s tweet did not damage his clients relationship with Lehner.
