The NHL combine took place this past weekend and prospects capitalized on the opportunity to show scouts what they’re made of.

From bench-pressing to the squat jump, numerous future stars went all out in a series of exhausting events. Among the toughest is the pull-up station; an exercise many have struggled with in the past. But it proved to be a piece of cake for top-ten prospect Brady Tkachuk, who cruised his way to 12. After Brady’s older brother Matthew admitted he wouldn’t be able to keep up, his Calgary Flames teammate, 2014 fourth overall pick Sam Bennett, decided to jump in on the fun and subtly chirp himself for not being able to do one at his own combine.

Bennett entered the draft as a top prospect but his name became more recognized in the hockey world after he notoriously failed to lift his chin above the bar. He was able to poke fun at the situation afterward and clearly hasn’t forgotten about it.

Bennett can at least feel comfortable knowing that he’s not the only player in combine history who couldn’t complete a single pull-up. In fact, he wasn’t even the first highly touted prospect. Who could forget when Casey Mittelstadt struggled his way to zero at the 2017 Combine?

In the grand scheme of things, these types of hiccups don’t end up mattering a whole lot. It’s best to just laugh about them afterward.
