Count former NHLer Scottie Upshall as part of the group who didn’t agree with Matthew Tkachuk’s hit on Saturday night.

As a refresher, Tkachuk sent Kassian onto another planet with a huge hit behind the Flames’ goal-line as Kassian was wrapping around the net. Upshall, who admitted to performing similar hits during his career, sounded off on Twitter afterward and insisted the check was “as dirty as it gets.” He then went as far as saying that if the hit was made on Connor McDavid, a ten game suspension would have been awarded.

Scottie Upshall shares his take on Matthew Tkachuk’s hit on Zack Kassian. . Thoughts? 🤔

Upshall didn’t stop there. He also had this to say about both the play, and Kassian having a hearing for his actions.

As for Kassian? Yeah… he wasn’t all that impressed by the play either. He questioned Tkachuk’s toughness and proceeded to call him a “punk”.

Andddd safe to say Matty didn’t feel too bad about the whole thing.

Kassian was given 14 minutes and a misconduct for his actions while Tkachuk avoided any PIMs at all. Time will tell how this one plays out.
