The Los Angeles Lakers found themselves in a close game against the Atlanta Hawks on Sunday night, which might’ve seemed to some considering the lowliness of this year’s Hawks, but it worked out for anybody watching as the game became an exchange of body blows between LeBron James, of course, and Vince Carter — whoa!

With 1:21 to go, prized Hawks rookie Trae Young (who is 20 years old) found Carter (who is 21 years older) slipping to the rim for the go-ahead dunk on Josh Hart.

The score remained 106-105 until LeBron, not to be outdone, slammed a putback dunk off his own free throw miss, which would prove good for the win with 15.3 seconds remaining. (He went 0-for-2 on that trip to the line, so it’s a good thing that there was still the hard way out.)

At 7-6 and with plenty of strife along the way, things haven’t gone the way that the Lakers wanted, and a loss to the Hawks (and to 41-year-old Vince Carter!) might really have sent this team into a tizzy. In the end, though, this game was able to pad what is likely Carter’s farewell tour without causing any harm to the Lakers in the standings. All around, a good result!

Earlier on Sunday, it was reported that Carter was going to play the rest of the season out in the shoe that he became a star in, the Nike Shox BB4 — with a Raptors-inspired pair soon! — and it was the shoe that he took to the court in against the Lakers.
