The trade deadline in the National Hockey League is on Monday, but the Ottawa Senators didn't wait until then to deal one of the three players on their roster that has been rumoured to be on the move.
Arguably the biggest trade domino has fallen. Matt Duchene is a member of the Columbus Blue Jackets, a team clearly loading up for a playoff run, and the Senators have moved one of the three players everyone thinks will be traded before the deadline.
There's a lot to unpack in regards to the trade. For starters, Duchene will face his former team Friday night. According to reports, the Blue Jackets haven't signed him to an extension (yet), so he could just be a rental, and finally, it seems like Artemi Panarin won't be dealt.
With so much information, it's no surprise there were a ton of reactions to the blockbuster deal.
