Sidney Crosby notched an assist on Chris Kunitz’s first period goal against the Winnipeg Jets earlier tonight, and that will become a trivia question for years to come.

The assist was Crosby’s 1,000 point, making him the 13th fastest player to reach the mark and the fastest active player to do so. Of course, for a man widely considered the greatest player in today’s NHL, he can sometimes be taken for granted. That wasn’t the case tonight, as most hockey fans shared their congratulations and compared him to greats of past eras.

While it’s hard to believe anyone will match up to Gretzky, these stats clearly place Crosby among the all-time greats.
