Ottawa is basically one big skating rink in the winter.

The city is home to the largest outdoor skating rink in the world (The Rideau Canal) and they have over 250 recreational rinks around the city. Add in the rink at City Hall and they’re pretty well covered. Well, apparently not covered enough, because they are turning their most famous greenspace into a skating rink for three weeks this winter.

Starting on Decemeber 7th, there will be a skating rink on Parliament Hill that will be open to the public. The construction is well underway, and it’s finally starting to take shape.

It should be a pretty cool sight to see people skating on the front lawn of Canada’s parliament buildings come December. Until then, we’ll just be waiting to see Darren Dreger’s list of outdoor rinks that he does every year.
