With the NHL community focused in San Jose for the weekend’s All-Star festivities, the Sharks are also making sure to give back to the local community.

In partnership with the NHL and SAP, they donated $500,000 to refurbish a street hockey rink in San Jose. Some members of the Sharks, including Joe Pavelski, Brent Burns and Erik Karlsson, were on hand as the court was officially unveiled, and they were even joined by some NHL mascots from around the league who were around for the All-Star Game.

While Canadian hockey players might their nose up at a deck-hockey rink — it’s hardly what we think of when we think of the perfect ODR — the climate of San Jose can be a barrier for young hockey players trying to access the game. This rink will be part of an effort to continue growing the sport.

Now, with that said... The perfect ODR is still the perfect ODR.
