The NHL is already going through a very strange season as it’s happening, for the most part, in the absence of fans. The crowd noise is faked, and the seats are covered, as the league tries to get through the 2020-21 season as safely as possible. Regardless, it doesn’t get any less weird…

On Tuesday, an odd situation led to a puck drop happening without players even being there, let alone fans!

With the game winding down between the Buffalo Sabres and the New Jersey Devils, the Sabres clinched the W with an empty net goal in the final second. After a review, the officials determined that the puck had crossed the line with 0.2 seconds remaining, but the players had already vacated the ice.

With no one left to take the draw, the officials simply dropped the puck to no one to complete the mandatory 60 full minutes.

Gotta finish the game, boys!
