Vince Carter’s saga as a Toronto Raptor was anything but peaceful. Whether you’re talking about his gameplay – chalked full of thunderous dunks – or his off-court manner, that was riddled with controversy particularly towards the end of his tenure as a Raptor, he was always very much the centre of attention.

Things have changed, though. The man who used to be public enemy #1 north of the border has since worked his way back into the loving affection of Raptor fans. His agelessness and his unwillingness to contribute to any drama in recent years are part of the reason why Toronto sports fans can once again non-spitefully call him a legend. He even got a standing ovation last year, bring tears to the eyes of one of the franchise’s all-time greats.

Regardless of what appears to be water under the bridge, the subject of Vince Carter will remain hot. Some believe his jersey belongs in the rafters, others can’t believe that any Toronto fans would give him the time of day. The release of The Carter Effect has certainly helped to stir that pot, but as for Vince Carter, he seems to just be happy everything happened how it did.

In two separate tweets, Carter acknowledged two completely different subjects to do with the Raptors and his time with the team. In one, he responded to the graduation photo that famously made waves, with some Raptors fans thinking he should have skipped the ceremony to prepare for their do-or-die playoff match against the Philadelphia 76ers. Instead of reiterating his point, or opening up an argument with Twitter about whether or not it was the right call, he simply implied that he didn’t regret a thing.

Shortly after, Carter responded to another fan who had apparently been upset with a friend over the relevance of Carter to Toronto basketball.

Carter has reached the stage of his career when he’s appreciating all the little things. Debates about his time as a Raptor years ago seem juvenile, and Carter’s placid responses show a kind of maturity Raptors fans will appreciate.
