In case you aren't up on college football's goings-on this year, Canadian running back Chuba Hubbard has been absolutely tearing it up for Oklahoma State.

The 20-year-old Sherwood Park native is leading America in rushing yards (1,094) with 13 touchdowns to his name through six games, and he’s planted himself firmly in the Heisman Trophy conversation.

Back in Edmonton, the hometown supporters have caught notice of Hubbard’s dominant season thus far. That includes one Wayne Gretzky, who showed his support for “Canada’s Cowboy.”

Especially if you’re an Edmonton boy, we can’t think of anybody else you’d rather get the endorsement from, and Hubbard makes it clear that he’s proud to represent Edmonton and his country.

Most sources place quarterbacks Tua Tagovailoa, Jalen Hurts and Joe Burrow leading the Heisman race, with Hubbard in the next tier of candidates. Still, it’s pretty cool to see Hubbard get this kind of push, and there’s plenty of season left.

Heisman or no, there should only be bigger and better things in store for Hubbard.
