Toughness is something every hockey player has to have due to the fact that at some point in every player's career, they'll probably have to battle through an injury.

Whether it be an injury from a puck, a hit, a stick, or something else, injuries happen often in hockey and toughness is tested, especially in the playoffs.

Sunday, Blue Jackets rookie Zach Werenski displayed his toughness after taking a puck to the face that bloodied him instantly.

Rather than taking the night off and healing up for Game 4, Werenski got stitched up and returned to the game.

Unfortunately he wasn't able to finish the game as his eye swelled shut during the intermission before overtime.

After the game, Werenski took to Twitter to show off his eye and nasty gash, and it's pretty clear there's no way he would have been able to see had he attempted to play in overtime.

The fact that Werenski returned at all shows just how tough the 19-year-old is.

After the game, John Tortorella was asked about Werenski and he praised him in a NSFW way:

Safe to say that's the quote of the postseason thus far, but Torts is right, Zach is extremely tough.

He'll have to be tough next game, too, along with the rest of his teammates as they try and erase the Penguins' 3-0 series lead one game at a time.

Jake Guentzel scores the OT winner to complete the hat trick and give the #Penguins a 3-0 series lead.
