Bill Guerin has made some major moves for the Minnesota Wild so far this offseason and those moves continued Friday morning as the team announced it will not be re-signing its captain, Mikko Koivu.

Koivu has spent his entire career with the Wild.  He was drafted in 2001 and has worn the 'C' for the last 11 seasons.  While the decision to let Koivu walk may not come as a surprise to some (especially when you consider the other moves the Wild have made), it's still a little shocking and Wild fans were quick to thank their captain.

We don't know where Koivu will play next season, but it will be strange to see him wearing anything other than a Wild jersey.
