Well, it was another record-breaking night in baseball, and it may not be a statistic you’d probably think would be captured in a time that we see pitchers tossing straight fire *cough cough Shohei Ohtani*.

During Monday evening’s Detroit Tigers vs. Houston Astros matchup, Astros pitcher Zack Greinke secured the title slot for the slowest tracked pitch (since 2008) that was not an intentional walk, in league history.

Prior to Renato Nunez, Greinke's start was not going to plan for him as he had given up three homers prior.

Beating Yu Darvish, who previously held the record following a 59mph last season, Greinke's 51.5mph eephus pitch landed him a strike against Nunez who ended up grounding out two pitches later to capture the Astros first out of the inning.

And it absolutely was a thing of beauty. This pitch isn't new to Greinke but still is amazing every time you get to see it.

But shortly after, Greinke ended up allowing two more runs before being pulled to have six runs allowed, tying his most since joining the organization back in 2019.

Honestly, we’re still a bit confused about this pitch but we get it, things weren’t working out so he opted to toss in a pitch to break up the Tiger’s rhythm. Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough as the Tigers still captured the 6-2 win.
