The 2017 World Baseball Classic is less than a month away and the countries released their official rosters on Wednesday afternoon. With 16 different countries competing in this year’s tournament, there will be plenty of Toronto Blue Jays players you can follow throughout the tournament.

Team Canada

Outfielder Dalton Pompey and minor league pitcher Shane Dawson will be representing Canada at this year’s WBC. Fans have become familiar with Pompey over the past two seasons, while Dawson spent last season in AA with New Hampshire, where he posted a 10-4 record with a 4.62 ERA. Blue Jays catcher Russel Martin was expected to play shortstop for Team Canada at this year’s tournament, but it turns out he will not be taking part after all.

Dominican Republic

Fresh off his new contract with the Blue Jays, outfielder Jose Bautista will be representing the defending champions Dominican Republic at the tournament. It will give the slugger a chance to prove that he still has what it takes to be a league leader in home runs and RBI.

Israel

After shocking the world and making an appearance at the 2013 WBC, Israel is back again for this year’s tournament. The team will feature one Blue Jays product and that’s prospect Jake Fishman. The 22-year-old will get a shot on a big stage less than one year after he was drafted by the Jays.

Italy

Like Israel, there will be one Blue Jays player representing Team Italy and that’s Jordan Romano. Despite being from Markham, Ontario, the right-handed pitcher will be on Team Italy after posting a 3-2 record with a 2.11 ERA with the Lansing Lugnuts last year.

Mexico

Two of Toronto’s best pitchers will be representing the team at the tournament, as both Marco Estrada and Roberto Osuna will both be playing for Team Mexico. Estrada has done a nice job turning his career around with the Jays, posting a 3.30 ERA and 296 strikeouts in his two seasons with the team. As for Osuna, the entire baseball world has been aware of what he’s capable since he entered the league last year. In his two MLB seasons, Osuna has a 2.63 ERA and 56 saves.

USA

Team USA will also have a duo of Blue Jays pitchers on their roster. Starters J.A. Happ and Marcus Stroman will both be representing America at the WBC. Happ is coming off a career year where he posted a 20-4 record and a 3.18 ERA with 163 strikeouts.  As for Stroman, he’s coming off an off-year and is looking to use the tournament to get his bounce back season going early.

Venezuela

Team Venezuela features on Blue Jays player and it’s prospect Leonel Campos. The 29-year-old spent the last three seasons with the San Diego Padres and will look to make his Blue Jays debut at some point this year.
