The Calgary Flames brought Chad Johnson on board last season to be Brian Elliott’s backup. Instead, he ended up playing a larger role with the team as Elliott’s season didn’t start as planned and he ended up losing his starting job for part of the regular season.

The 31-year-old Saskatoon, Saskatchewan native hasn’t exactly gone into vacation mode just yet as he’s still kicking around Calgary and helping out local charities however he can.

On Friday, the Flames announced that Johnson is currently raising money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation through their Make-A-Wish Rope for Hope initiative, only he’s adding a little twist to it.

The event calls on participants to raise pledges in exchange for a chance to rappel down the edge of a high-profile building, but Johnson has decided that if he’s going to spice things up and rappel down the Calgary building in full goalie gear if fans help him reach his goal of $15,000.
