This past Thursday was a sad day in sports, as legendary TNT broadcaster Craig Sager passed away after a long battle with acute myeloid leukemia. Professional athletes and organizations have found different ways to honour Sager after all the joy and happiness he brought them over the span of his career, and Detroit Lions wide receiver Golden Tate is the latest to step up with a nice gesture.

On Sunday, the Lions will play the New York Giants at MetLife Stadium and Tate will be rocking a different pair of cleats for his Week 15 matchup.

In honor of Craig Sager I will be wearing these Sunday. #ripcraigsager🙏🏾🏀👔📺 @elcappy

Just like Sager’s incredible suits, Tate’s cleats for Sunday’s matchup with the Giants are as colourful as can be, and have ‘RIP Craig Sager’ written around the edges. The Lions receiver also shared this post on his Instagram account after he heard the news.

We know the NFL has not been a fan of custom cleats in the past, so Tate will most likely get fined for these cleats if he wears them in the game. Hopefully the NFL lightens up just this once and allows him to rock them.
