On February 7, 2016, Marshawn Lynch let the football community know he was walking away from the NFL with one simple tweet.

The tweet shocked a lot of people, especially Seattle Seahawks fans, as the man they referred to as ‘Beast Mode’ was no longer going to be the leader in their backfield.

After sitting out the 2016 NFL season, the 31-year-old decided he was going to make a comeback and return to the NFL. However, if Lynch was going to play in the NFL again it wasn’t going to be with the team he won a Super Bowl with, it was going to be with his hometown Oakland Raiders.

On Tuesday afternoon, Lynch spoke with the media and finally explained why he decided to return to the NFL and why he wanted his comeback to be with the Raiders.

As much as it hurts Raiders fans to know their team will be leaving town, these comments from Lynch has to have them feeling good. The announcement of the team moving definitely struck him close to his heart, and now he’s ready to put the entire city on his back to give them something to cheer about before their beloved Raiders leave town for good.
