Dion Phaneuf seemed to be enjoying life as an Ottawa Senator this past season.

The former Toronto Maple Leafs' captain carved a nice role for himself on the Sens’ blue line, and has noticeably been in the spotlight far less than he was with his old team.

Before moving to Ottawa, Phaneuf had appeared in five career playoff series with the Maple Leafs and Calgary Flames, however, he did not win a single one with either team.

In 2017, it was a different story for Phaneuf, winning two rounds and fighting all the way to double overtime of Game 7 in the Eastern Conference Finals.

Unfortunately his Sens fell short in that double OT period, which means Phaneuf had to clean out his locker this weekend.

After post-season interviews had been conducted, and the Sens' summer break had officially begun, Phaneuf did something to show his appreciation for members of the media before he took off.

The Senators' season ended before they wanted it to, but what a ride it was.

We look forward to seeing the Senators come back next season and be just as competitive as they were this year.
