A few days ago, Dallas Mavericks forward Dirk Nowitzki’s life changed when he opened up his fan mail after joining the 30,000-point club.

As the 19-year veteran went through his usual routine of opening and reading the letters, one package contained an item that was so out of this world that he needed to share it with the world via his Twitter account.

The bulky part of the package probably had the 13-time All-Star a little confused, but after he opened it up to see what it was, he became an instant fan. After all, not many people can say they’ve had their face on a potato before.

Disco Dirk isn’t the only NBA player who has received a potato, though. A few days ago Hassan Whiteside also found a potato with his image waiting for him in his pile of fan mail.

The trend continued on Friday afternoon, as Kevin Durant became the next lucky player to find a personalized potato in his fan mail. However, his didn’t have his face on it. Instead, it had a nice little heartfelt message, which he seemed to enjoy.

The potatoes were sent to the players by Potato Parcel, a company dedicated to putting personalized messages on potatoes. According to an interview on For The Win, the company sent out potatoes to nearly the starting five of every team, adding up to about 150 potatoes.

So far only a few players have shared pictures of their personalized potatoes, so that means there’s plenty more in the mail waiting to be unwrapped.
