The sports world was on edge Tuesday for a number of different reasons.

It started with Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather reportedly agreeing to financial terms for a fight.  Then there was the Serge Ibaka to Toronto trade.

Brock Lesnar retired from the UFC, in case you missed that, and oh yeah, Michel Therrien was fired and replaced by Claude Julien.

It gets better, though, as all of this was happening as day one of CFL free agency got underway.

Obviously the biggest news of the day was the Therrien and Julien news, and it's not even close.  Sure, the Habs have been struggling recently, but they're still in first place in the Atlantic, six points up on Ottawa.

That being said, it was time for a change and it was one that we imagine most Montreal fans were fine with considering how much their team has struggled recently.

Still, Therrien did a great job in almost five seasons with the Habs, and we hope he gets another coaching gig very soon.

Once the firing was announced, Arpon Basu, the managing editor for LNH.com, shared this quote from Therrien from All-Star weekend about coaching for the Canadiens.

Just breaks your heart to see someone lose their job, and whether you liked him or not as a coach, you certainly have to feel for him as a person.

Montreal fans won't get to see their new bench boss for a little while as the team is on their bye week and return to the ice Saturday against the Jets.
